Wine and beer donations: One of the advantages of holding a wine event in California is that there are many local wineries, some of which may be willing to help charitable organizations.

"All of the wines for the Coronado event are being donated by Young's Market, a local wine distributor," says Muir. And the Stone Brewing Company, a local brewery, is donating the beer for the party.

The menu:  On the menu will be heavy hors d'oeuvres and appetizers, all donated by local caterer Authentic Flavors Catering, in San Diego. "The menu is built around the wine," Muir explains. "Each wine will be paired with food that enhances the wine's flavor."

The wine and food pairings to be featured at "A Summer's Night in Coronado" include:

Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc

Shrimp w/scampi dipping sauce

Gouda cheese with strawberries and grapes

Spinach dip with parmesan cheese and almonds

Crackers and toast
