Suit up in high style

According to retailers and manufacturers, suits for evening wear are becoming more popular all the time. One suit shop that can attest to this trend is The Suit Closet, in Los Angeles (thesuitcloset.com).

"A fabulous suit can be better than a dress at a black tie fashion event if the right suit is chosen," relays shop owner Vani Kumar. "Suit manufacturers have responded to the recent surge of requests for formal suiting due to celebrity trends. We've seen celebrities such as Jessica Simpson and Angelina Jolie wearing glamorous suits to award shows and galas.

"Two of the most popular suits that we can't keep in stock every holiday season are tuxedo style suits and brocade fabric suits. These suits are classy and timeless. And they totally exude S-E-X-Y! This season, black and siren red are definitely the colors everyone is looking for," says Kumar. Her advice: "Stay away from prints and pinstripes. These suits are best kept for the workplace only."

Here's another option: "Take your favorite solid color suit and pin on your favorite evening broach," Kumar suggests. "You'll be surprised how your suit will suddenly go from blah to 'Wow!'"
